Mass Building Workouts Start In The Mind

Yes, it’s true that mass building workouts start in the mind. But you need to understand that it’s more than just a “determined mental state” that I’m referring to. While it is very important to get your mental toughness jacked up before a workout, you need to use another side of your mind too…the intellectual side.

The first thing I want you to really grasp before beginning any type of mass building workout is that you need to be smart…DON’T OVER-TRAIN. Whether you’ve heard it before or not, I have to say it because this is one area that I see beginners, and veterans alike, often fail to pay the proper amount of attention. It is incredibly crucial to be knowledgeable about how much stress you’re putting on your muscles each time you grab the iron. You see, the reason this is so vital is because the recovery process is when you’re body will actually get bigger and stronger. So, if you’re over-training you are making it nearly impossible for your body to recover and build muscle mass.

There are many ways to stay aware of exactly how much you should train each day. One major thing I take into consideration is how much food (calories, protein, carbs, etc.) that I’ve been able to put into my body before the workout and how much I will be able to put in after the workout. For example, if you take a vacation and are only eating a couple thousand calories per day, you’re honestly better off taking that time off from the gym.

Now, on the other hand, when you’re in the gym and you’re body is properly prepared…you need to get after it. You need to lift heavy and push yourself hard.
